The Division of Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP), based in Geneva, aims to achieve results for children by maximizing UNICEF's private fundraising, partnerships and engagement activities, including work with National Committees, Regional and Country offices.

The National Committee Relations section, within the Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) division, is responsible for managing the relationship with National Committees (NatComs) with the aim of maximizing the potential and effectiveness of UNICEF's presence in high income countries and increasing the contribution of NatComs to the achievement of UNICEF's global goals.

Guided by UNICEF Strategic Plan 2026-2029 and PFP’s Office Management Plan 2026-2029, the section is responsible for ensuring effective working relationships with NatComs so that UNICEF maximizes the value of these relationships in accordance with the vision of PFP – “increase of income and influence brings more impacts on children”.

The National Committee Relations section serves as the primary interface for managing the UNICEF–National Committee strategic partnership and collaborative relationship, operating within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement (CA) and UNICEF’s regulatory standards. The team leads on several key areas: (1) managing strategic alignment of National Committee plans with UNICEF strategies, policies, and standards through the Joint Strategic Planning (JSP) process; (2) overseeing the overall relationship with 32 National Committees, acting as the main liaison between National Committees and UNICEF HQ divisions, regional, and country offices to ensure effective coordination and delivery of outcomes; (3) driving risk management in partnership with National Committees to preserve the reputation of the organization; and (4) working closely with Executive Directors and Board Chairs of National Committees to integrate efforts and achieve the targets set in the Joint Strategic Plans (JSPs).

By aligning diverse stakeholders and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships, the section maximizes UNICEF’s presence and effectiveness in high-income countries while safeguarding organizational integrity.

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the Deputy Director, National Committee Relations, provide support to the National Committee Relations section, facilitating its effective interaction and collaboration with other divisions across UNICEF, the National Committee community and the Standing Group (SG) in particular, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
This post is responsible for coordinating the activities of National Committee Relations Section and supporting the Deputy Director to meet strategic results of the section in managing the partnership with the National Committee community, especially with Standing Group. The incumbent provides and/or coordinates and quality-assures high-level executive support on NatCom related issues for senior leadership, including cross-divisional follow-up, briefing materials and strategic communications.

  1. Provide quality support to the PFP Deputy Director National Committee Relations to enhance the role of the National Committee management in the accountabilities and delivery of the UNICEF Strategic Plan

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: An advanced university degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, International Relations, Government, Public Administration, or other relevant disciplines.
    A Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in a relevant area combined with 2 additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional work experience in Partnership management and Fundraising is required.
  • Experience producing a range of high-level briefing and analytical materials for senior decision-makers.
  • Skills: Project Management, Strategic Planning, Coordination and writing skills.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.

Desirables:

  • Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
  • Experience supporting organizational risk management is an asset.
  • UN/UNICEF experience is an asset.
  • Experience working with National Committees is an asset.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
