UNICEF's Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in Budapest, Hungary provides services to UNICEF offices globally in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Payroll and Information Technology. UNICEF GSSC has a continuous improvement process which often identify needed changes in process and integration of various system, this sometime result in automating manual processes and finding innovative ways to improve performance of teams and overall operations. The ICT Associate’s goal is to be a member of committed professional providing Customer Care support to the entire organization on the use of different tools and technologies.

How can you make a difference?

The IT Associate supports users to ensure that effective and efficient solutions are provided to all queries on IT infrastructure and services. This role specifically provides IT support to users on request related to new applications and services such as HOPE (Humanitarian cash Operations and Programme Ecosystem), RapidPro, etc. Facilitates communication between users, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and IT Management.  Escalates incidents from users; maintains relevant documentation on known issues, processes, and procedures for Customer Care. In addition, the IT Associate is expected to handle tasks or projects assigned by the supervisor to support the unit.

This is a temporary appointment for 6 to 12 months. It is a great opportunity for career development in a fast-paced, multicultural context and for taking the first step towards an international career as part of the UN family.

Key functions, accountabilities, and related tasks:

  • Provide timely and effective user support on an on-going basis, by assisting in the programming and implementation of new systems and performing first and second line support functions.
  • Provide Access Management support.
  • Provide User access Management for HOPE.
  • Provide support to RAPIDPRO system.
  • Escalation, Performance Monitoring and Reporting.
  • Knowledge management within Customer Care.
  • Assignments of additional duties and responsibilities are effectively performed

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of secondary education (high school diploma) is a minimum requirement, supplemented with university-level courses in system engineering or programming or automation or equivalent specialized training is an asset.
  • At least six years of practical work experience in the relevant field, requiring systematic methods of troubleshooting and problem solving is required. A completed first level university degree (Bachelor's degree) from an accredited institution will be considered as 3 years’ work experience (for fully completed degrees only).
  • Experience in assisting users on IT/ Business products and services and use of applications is required.
  • ITIL Foundation Certificate or equivalent customer support certification is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Visio) is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills is required.
  • Knowledge of UNICEF’s Ticketing system (ServiceNow) is desirable.
  • Work experience at a Shared Services Center is an asset.
  • Knowledge of UN/UNICEF'S rules, regulations and procedures is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
  • Internal applicants (holders of fixed-term, continuing contracts) from the GSSC are required to complete their Learning Paths corresponding to their current level before applying for another position.
