How can you make a difference?
 

The Sr. Finance Associate will be responsible for providing a variety of specialized tasks in finance functions, ensuring accurate and timely delivery that is in compliance with UNICEF financial rules and regulations, whilst demonstrating the capacity to research, adapt and evaluate irregular cases, and also to recommend improvements to process delivery and design.  

 

Major responsibilities:

1. Management Oversight Technical Support and Financial Monitoring

• Advise and assist on all aspects related to preparation of reports, compilation of data and answering queries on funds received, adjustments made to ensure financial compliance, accuracy and completeness of data for its inclusion into statement of accounts and adjustment of budgets. Advise units of discrepancies and assist to resolve differences in their records.

• Provide technical assistance to monitor financial records and indicators according to CPMP, AMP and Annual report.  This includes assisting in computing, analyzing data, preparing and monitoring expenditure of budget allotment.

• Maintains financial records and monitoring systems and other data for monthly and year-end closure.

 

2. Technical Support and Quality Assurance on Programme Implementation

• Review partnership agreement and expenditure reports to be aligned with the applicable guideline. Also provide advice to programme staff as needed.

• Contribute to joint field visit to assess risk of financial system and control mechanisms among implementing partners.

• Preliminary review and provide feedback to the respective sections on the input of the results of assurance activities; assist with training and orientation on UNICEF policy and guideline applicable on Programme Partnerships.

 

3. Other Operations support

• Ensure all strategic operations management issues, management review, audit and best practices are captured and stored for future references. Maintain system for monitoring status of implementation of audit recommendation including maintaining up-to-date audit file.

• Provide administrative support to clients responding to request for documents, clarification on operational processes.

• Maintains liaisons with officials of local banks to obtain day-to-day information on exchange and interest rates, changes in procedures and regulations, and matters pertaining to maintenance of office bank accounts.

Minimum requirements:

  1. Education
    • Completion of secondary education is required with professional/university level courses in Accounting and Finance/Business administration considered as an asset.
  1. Experience
  • A minimum of seven years of clerical experience in the area of finance and accounting is required.

Three (3) years and an additional two (2) years of experience may be substituted for candidates holding a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, respectively.

  1. Language and Computer Proficiency 
    • Fluency in English and Thai is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Appointments may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
