Purpose of Activity/Assignment

The Global WASH Cluster (GWC) recognizes the critical importance of equipping its coordination staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively respond to the evolving challenges in WASH sector. To address this need, the GWC has developed a comprehensive training pathway aimed at enhancing the capacities of WASH Cluster partners and coordination personnel. During the annual National Coordination Platform (NCP) workshop held in May 2023, several emerging needs for specialized learning were identified. Participants expressed a clear demand for targeted training on essential topics such as Emergency Preparedness, Anticipatory Action, the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus, and Cluster Transition.

In response to these identified needs, the purpose of this assignment is to develop a hybrid training package tailored specifically for WASH Cluster Coordinators and Information Management Officers. This training package will combine both in-person and online learning formats to maximize accessibility and engagement. It will incorporate interactive elements, case studies, and practical exercises to ensure that participants not only gain theoretical knowledge but also develop the skills needed to apply this knowledge effectively in real-world scenarios.

Scope of work

1) Review the 2023 Humanitarian-Development Peace Nexus training package:

  • Take stock of existing IASC, GCCS and GWC guidance and generic learning material to update the training package content
  • Review learning objectives and monitoring tools
  • Review learning methodology as needed for online or in-person facilitation.
  • Publish the course on AGORA

2) Develop a Preparedness / Anticipatory Action / Climate change training package:

  • Take stock of existing IASC, GCCS and GWC guidance and generic learning material to gather content, in coordination with UNICEF GCCS Learning Task Force, GCCG Climate task force, GWC Climate Working Group and GWC Field Support Team specialist on the topic
  • Develop learning objectives and monitoring tools
  • Develop a scenario-based learning methodology for online or in-person facilitation, using collaborative tools and interactive activities.
  • Publish the course on AGORA

3) Develop a Cluster Transition training package:

  • Take stock of existing IASC, GCCS/GCCG and GWC guidance to gather content, in coordination with UNICEF GCCS Learning Task Force and GWC Field Support team specialist on the topic
  • Develop learning objectives and monitoring tools
  • Develop a scenario-based learning methodology for online or in-person facilitation, using collaborative tools and interactive activities.

4) Convert existing hybrid trainings to e-learning: Advocacy training, MBP 4 WASH training

Estimated Duration of the Contract

120 working days between December 2024 and August 2025.

Consultant’s Work Place and Official Travel

The Consultant will be remote/home-based with no travels foreseen.

Estimated Cost of the Consultancy & Payment Schedule

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of an invoice and satisfactory completion of the above-mentioned deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

Please submit a professional fee (in USD) based on 120 working days to undertake this assignment.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Minimum Bachelor degree in Education, educational technology, human resources, organizational psychology, public health, communication or another relevant technical field.
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in training development is required
  • Relevant international humanitarian experience will be considered as contributing to this work experience.
  • Knowledge of the WASH sector is an asset.
  • Understanding of or experience in humanitarian coordination is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, presentation and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English is a requirement.
  • French and Spanish considered as an asset.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
