How can you make a difference?
Under the general guidance of the Chief Field Office in Boa Vista, you will provide support and overall coordination of UNICEF (programmatic) and field response in Pacaraima. You will have daily contact with staff in the various field offices and with the Boa Vista unit following guidance from the programmatic areas. Also, will have close liaison with a range of local civilian and military authorities and counterparts in NGOs and UN agencies to discuss matters of common interest. Your activities include:
a) Situation Analysis and Reporting
Assess migrants’ needs in the various fields of assistance and make recommendations for the establishment of projects, adjustment or discontinuation of existing projects and advise the Chief Field Office accordingly.
Conduct regular assessment and analysis of the children situation in Pacaraima and regularly prepare written reports on the implementation of projects and the situation in the sites.
b) Inter-agency coordination and representation
Participate in relevant events, meetings and working groups where the presence of UNICEF is required- in Pacaraima and provide technical contribution in the elaboration of interagency referrals mechanisms and other initiatives.
Liaise and engage with key stakeholders in Pacaraima on children’s issues and concerns.
With the technical support of the programme officers, engage with the local Network, and actively contribute to existing coordination mechanisms of Operação Acolhida in Pacaraima.
Contribute to the cross-border coordination with UNICEF Venezuela.
Report immediately on any security problems that may occur affecting programme, beneficiaries, and the smooth running of the operation.
c) Sub-sector and working groups strategy development
Support the timely and effective implementation of the agreed child protection sub-sector response strategy in the border, mainly the work with Unaccompanied and Separated Children, and indigenous population.
With the support of the programme officers, engage and coordinate the working group in Education. Health and WASH (Water, sanitation, and hygiene) in Pacaraima.
d) Project monitoring and technical support
Monitor UNICEF projects, propose remedial actions and provide technical guidance to implementing partners to ensure the implementation pace and approach are in line with humanitarian principles and standards and meet the project expected results, always according to the Boa Vista programmatic unit.
Prepare project proposals; draw up plan of operation for implementation, including institutional arrangements for budgets.

Minimum requirements:
Education: Completion of Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Law, International Relations, Social Work, Anthropology, Communication, or another relevant field.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience with humanitarian or emergency response with field experience and background and familiarity with international human rights.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in articulating with state and municipal governments and civil society organizations is needed.
Skills:
- Solid knowledge of program management is required.
- Ability to facilitate interagency processes is needed
- Experience with UN and International Organization is desirable.
- Experience working with indigenous population is an asset.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Database literacy will be an asset.
Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Portuguese required. Knowledge of Spanish will be considered as an asset.
Desirables:
- Master’s degree in psychology, Law, International Relations, Social Work, Anthropology, Communication, or another relevant field is an asset.
- Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.
