- Support UNICEF Nepal in developing a comprehensive strategy and roadmap on sustainability and climate action, facilitate its roll-out and mainstreaming into sectoral programme.
- Provide strategic and technical support for the contribution to NDC 3.0 and bringing social sectors such as WASH, Education, Health and children and youth engagement in NDC 3.0 including its implementation plan and/or roll-out.
- Provide technical support to ongoing and emerging CEED and SCAP-related programmes including support for the child friendly early warning system (EWS) on climate resilience.
- Manage and lead the carbon trading component of the ECO Zone project including development and implementation of sustainable business model.
- Liaise with government counterparts particularly Ministry of Forests and Environment for flagship activities like Sagarmatha Sambaad and UNFCCC Conference of Parties (COP30) preparation
- Provide technical assistance to Communication and Advocacy Programme section on climate advocacy and action including guidance to UNV Specialist Youth Engagement and Communications and youth advocates.
- Provide technical assistance to Education section on development and implementation of climate smart education programming including climate smarting and implementation of green school guideline.
- Reach out other UN and Climate Change related government/non-government organizations for necessary coordination and collaboration on sustainability and climate actions particularly delivering results for children and young people.
- Support UNICEF Nepal in development of investment case and case studies to support financing for children and youths in climate action
- Organize capacity building of staffs, children and youths on matters related to SCAP and NDC.
- Documentation and dissemination of lessons learned and good practices.
- Multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholder coordination, collaboration and reporting as required in SCAP.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Education:
Advanced university degree in climate change, environmental science, natural resource management or other related fields.

A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience in climate, environment, energy and disaster risk reduction.

Fully abreast of global and national climate change policies, guidelines, plans and strategies
-
Good understanding and familiar with the government system in Nepal.

Good relationship with stakeholders in Nepal working in the areas of climate change

Experience of working with children, youth or their networks

Excellent planning and organizational skills

Excellent writing, presentation and communication skills

Ability to analyse, evaluate and synthesize information
- Skills in standard Microsoft operating products
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships
- Prior experience of UN system will be an advantage.
- Fluency in English and Nepali is required
- Knowledge in climate financing will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge in carbon market and/or afforestation will be an additional asset.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract.
