At UNICEF COLOMBIA we work to generate positive changes in the lives of children and adolescents. Our current work plan runs from 2021 to the end of 2024 and aims to ensure that children and adolescents enjoy their rights through equitable access to social services, improve their learning and live protected from all types of violence.

We work throughout Colombia, with special focus on the departments where children have fewer opportunities: Chocó, Cauca, Nariño, Antioquia, Córdoba, Amazonas, Putumayo, La Guajira, Caquetá, Atlántico, Arauca and Norte de Santander.

How can you make a difference?

Under the direct supervision of the Individual Fundraising Officer, the purpose of this process is to recruit a Legacy Fundraising Officer for the Colombian Country Office, who will develop UNICEF’s legacy strategy and thereby provide expertise in this new emerging channel and drive the growth of Legacy income.
 
This person will work closely with the fundraising teams (Individual Giving, Corporate & Marketing Services) in order to develop this new channel. His/her role will include actions for the acquisition of new handraisers (marketing approach, telemarketing clusters and segmentation, digital and other offline channels), creating alliances with notaries and other facilitators and setting up a stewardship program for committers/completers.
 
Summary of key functions/accountabilities:
 
1. Define the strategy and work plan of the Legacy area, detect potential prospects inside or outside the UNICEF database.
2. Establish campaign objectives, metrics, KPIs and their corresponding monitoring and analysis.
3. Promote personal interaction with key donors to advise them on technical and legal issues inherent to the process of inheritances and legacies.
4. Assist in the maintenance of an accurate database, ensuring that records are kept fully up to date with all supporter communications, plans and information.
5. Together with Marketing Services, develop a communication campaign aiming to raise awareness on will writing in Colombia and set up a Legacy stewardship program from channel initiation for committers and completers.
6. Provide Legacy training to fundraising agencies on best class implementation strategies.
7. Carry out digital, telemarketing, offline and integrated legacy programs with a test & learn
focus.
8. Undertake awareness research, benchmarking and other marketing techniques to find the right legacy approach for the Colombian market.
9. Lead the planning and execution of supporter and potential allies’ events (warm stewardship and prospecting).
10. Negotiate contracts and enforcing contractual terms with legal agencies and other agencies.
11. Lead financial processes; track invoices and manage financial queries. Taking ownership of budgets for specific projects in the caseload.
12. Stablish and manage a proper Legacy network which includes notaries, lawyers, insurance companies, etc. Define a marketing legacy plan for each partner.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • University degree in marketing is required, and any other discipline relevant to UNICEF’s humanitarian mission is an asset (i.e.
    international relations, cooperation & development, project management).
  • A Minimum of one (1) year of progressively responsible work experience in legacy fundraising
  • Good level of English is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
