Nepal is highly exposed to multi-hazards including earthquakes, floods, droughts, fire and landslides. UNICEF Nepal has been working closely with the government of Nepal to address the immediate lifesaving needs of the people affected by disasters in Nepal. As the response continues to prevent and reduce mortality and morbidity and decrease the impact on human well-being and livelihoods, UNICEF also continues to support Federal, Provincial and Local Government for risk informed programming and its implementation.
Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Emergency Section plays a key role in overall coordination, information management, monitoring and reporting Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) and Disaster Risk Reduction, climate, energy and environment at federal, provincial and local levels, especially in Madhesh, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. Considering the ongoing programme implementation and need to continue providing EPR and DRR mainstreaming support, technical support to implement climate change action to federal, provincial and local levels, UNICEF Nepal Country Office requires to hire a consultant for information management, monitoring and reporting to ensure effective programme implementation of 2023-2027, at federal and or provincial levels.

The primary function of the Information Management /Monitoring and Reporting Consultant will support UNICEF and its partners for information management, timely and effective monitoring and reporting that lead to improved programme quality, accountability and reporting and system building for effective implementation of EPR, DRR and CEE programme.
The purpose of establishing Consultant’s Roster of experts is to ensure that appropriate and pre-qualified experienced professionals with relevant technical expertise are rapidly deployed as individual consultants to meet programmatic requirements.
(Information Management /Monitoring and Reporting Consultant):
Main responsibilities/tasks
To support DRR section in the following areas of specialization/expertise in information management, monitoring and reporting.
- Strengthen the monitoring system (monitoring framework, data collection tools and results reporting) of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), CCDRR programme, Climate Energy and Environment programme and emergency preparedness and response works.
- Support different ongoing programme.
- Analyze updates/reports from provinces and municipalities and feed into various information and knowledge products for Quarterly, half-yearly, yearly and donor reports
- In coordination with field offices, prepare case studies and human interest stories for different donor reports
- Coordinate with cluster or sectoral Information Management Focal points and represent at Inter Agency Information Management Working Group at federal level.
- Support for identification, documentation and dissemination of good practices and lessons learned.
- Establish a robust information management system for preparedness and response for respective sector/clusters
- Update/analysis of pre-crises sectoral data (WASH, Education, Health, Child Protection, SPGE and Nutrition) or information on emergency preparedness and Response
- Streamline/link the information management system with other sector/clusters (pre-crisis and response). Prepare 3W/4W/5W mapping of stakeholders and upload them on the website (cluster or UNICEF sites), prepare GIS based mapping/Power BI
- Organize regular meetings as IMOs of clusters/sector members at federal and provincial levels as per guidance from section/cluster co-leads
- Prepare 1 or 2 pager infographics/products and fact sheets for different clusters and upload them to the system/website
- Analyze/update the reports from the field and shared information for the situation reporting and different knowledge products.
- Capacity building of sectoral partners on information management, data analysis and reporting on EPR.

Minimum requirements:
Education:
Masters' degree in relevant field or equivalent, i.e., disaster risk management, environmental engineering, climate or social science, development studies with proven technical expertise.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 5 years related professional experience on information management, monitoring and reporting.
- Sound knowledge on data analysis, and information management.
- Experience in gathering qualitative data/information, analysis, and reporting
- Excellent communication, analytical and writing skills,
- Experience working in emergencies and working with the cluster system.
- Prior UNICEF and UN experience will be preferred.
Special Skills/Knowledge Required:
- Information management on emergency preparedness and response
- Prior experience on case studies and human-interest stories
- Development of situation update and or report
- Monitoring and reporting on EPR, DRR, climate change, etc. with sex and disagregated data
- Training and coaching skills to field team on Monitoring and reporting
- Good analytical skills
- Coordination skills with federal to local government and different authorities
Language Requirements: Excellent Nepali and English writing and speaking skills.
