The Philippine Country Office is a medium-to-large size country office with its base in Manila and a regular field office in Cotabato City. Moreover, the office is situated in a country that is highly exposed to natural hazards. It has its own Private Fundraising & Partnerships (PFP) team which raises funds for its different programs, including emergencies.

How can you make a difference? 

In consultation with the Individual Giving Manager, and in close collaboration with the rest of the PFP team, the
consultant will:
 
Conceptualization & Strategy
• Support in developing a comprehensive merchandise and collaboration strategy aligned with UNICEF’s brand identity, values, and target audience.
• Prepare market and trend analyses to identify high‑potential product categories (e.g., apparel, accessories, collectibles, stationery).
• Support in establishing campaign themes, storytelling angles, and merchandise objectives that reinforce UNICEF’s mission and fundraising goals.
 
Artist Sourcing & Creative Collaboration
• Identify, vet, and onboard artists whose style and values align with UNICEF’s brand and campaign direction.
• Negotiate contracts, licensing agreements, and usage rights with artists.
• Facilitate creative collaboration between artists, designers, and product development teams to produce unique, impactful merchandise concepts.
 
Brand Partnerships & Product Collaboration
 
• Identify potential brand partners that align with UNICEF’s values, audience reach, and product opportunities.
• Develop partnership proposals, strategic pitches, creative decks, and impact narratives to engage prospective collaborators.
• Lead contract negotiations in coordination with legal and procurement teams, covering deliverables, IP ownership, co-branding, licensing, and financial arrangements.
• Support in conducting due diligence and risk assessments, ensuring partners meet UNICEF’s ethical, reputational, sustainability, and child‑safety standards.
• Coordinate co-design processes between UNICEF, partner brands, artists, and designers, ensuring all outputs meet UNICEF quality and brand guidelines.
 
Design & Product Development
 
• Oversee the translation of artistic concepts into production-ready merchandise designs.
• Coordinate with graphic designers, product developers, and packaging specialists to finalize prototypes and samples.
• Ensure all designs adhere to UNICEF’s brand guidelines, quality standards, and manufacturing requirements.
• Review, refine, and approve designs, packaging, and product specifications prior to production.
 
Production & Vendor Management
• Partner with UNICEF’s procurement team to manage relationships with approved vendors and manufacturers.
• Monitor production timelines, quality control, and cost efficiency across all product categories.
• Ensure compliance with ethical manufacturing practices, sustainability requirements, and relevant safety regulations.
• Implement risk mitigation procedures, including contingency planning for production delays or quality issues.
 
Project Management & Cross‑Functional Coordination
• Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables for all merchandise and brand collaboration initiatives.
• Serve as a central liaison among artists, brands, designers, vendors, and internal UNICEF teams.
• Provide regular progress updates, reports, and decision-support materials to internal stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate documentation, workflow tracking, and approvals throughout the project lifecycle.
 
Marketing Integration & Campaign Launch Support
• Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to ensure merchandise aligns with campaign messaging and brand activations.
• Support the development of launch plans, content calendars, promotional materials, and storytelling assets.
• Ensure artist and brand partner contributions are accurately represented, credited, and celebrated.
• Assist in coordinating cross-channel promotion (e.g., retail, e-commerce, events, social media).
 
Sales Performance, Impact Measurement & Optimization
• Support the definition of KPIs for merchandise and brand partnership initiatives, including revenue, engagement, reach, and impact.
• Track performance data, gather insights, and generate reports for internal teams and partner stakeholders.
• Recommend improvements to product lines, strategies, or partnership models based on performance and market feedback.
• Support forecasting, inventory planning, and long-term sales strategy.
 
Relationship Management & Long-Term Partnership Building
• Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with artists, brands, agencies, and vendors.
• Explore opportunities for repeat collaborations, multi-year partnerships, or expanded product categories.
• Increase the awareness of UNICEF in brand and creative communities to cultivate future partnership prospects.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Minimum requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Fine Arts, Design, Creative Industries, or related fields.

Work Experience: 

  • At least 2 years of proven experience in merchandise development, creative production, brand collaborations, or related commercial/creative sectors
  • Strong aesthetic sensibility with the ability to translate artistic concepts into commercially viable products.
  • Familiarity with product sourcing, manufacturing processes, ethical production standards, and quality control.
  • Working knowledge of intellectual property rights, licensing, and artist agreements.
  • Strong project management capabilities, including the ability to manage multiple timelines and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse creative personalities, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, and capable of navigating production or operational challenges.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment while maintaining professionalism and quality standards.
The following Knowledge/Expertise/Skills will be an Advantage:
- Experience working with Filipino artists, local art communities, design studios, or cultural organizations.
- Background in art curation, creative direction, or cultural product development.
- Prior experience collaborating with brands on co-branded merchandise, campaigns, or product lines.
- Exposure to donor engagement, fundraising merchandise, or social impact driven product development
- Understanding of UNICEF brand guidelines, ethical standards, and child safeguarding considerations in product creation
- Familiarity with sustainability practices in design and manufacturing.
- Passion for art, design, culture, and social impact initiatives.

Language Requirements: 

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with fluency in English and Filipino (oral and written).
