Emergencies have grown increasingly complex, more frequent and often with less time between them to allow affected people to rebuild their resilience, UNICEF remains dedicated to providing life-saving assistance to children affected by disasters, and to protecting their rights in all circumstances. In health and nutrition, water and sanitation, protection, education and HIV/AIDS, UNICEF’s Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian Action (CCCs), the basis for all UNICEF’s emergency operations, are more than a mission statement – they are a humanitarian imperative.

The first hours after an emergency are crucial. The earlier we start raising funds for the emergency, the more we will raise.
