Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.
And we never give up.
For every child, education.
The School Education Sector Plan 2022/23-2031/32 (SESP) has been developed to support Nepal’s long-term education goals within the highly decentralized institutional framework that has emerged following the 2015 Constitution. One of SESP’s key objectives is to enhance the effectiveness of education service delivery by promoting good governance, strengthening inter-governmental coordination and collaboration, and building the institutional capacity of all stakeholders involved in school education. Equity and inclusion remain key cross-cutting themes.
According to the Flash Report 2080, 19.3% of community schools nationwide have female headteachers, while the proportion of female teachers at the basic level stands at 40.8%. Addressing specific training needs and gaps is essential to increasing female representation in school leadership.
With funding support from the European Union and GPE, UNICEF Nepal is implementing a project to promote female leadership among headteachers and local government officials at targeted UNICEF-supported local levels. As part of this initiative, a comprehensive training package and resource materials will be developed to strengthen women's leadership skills and foster gender equality and inclusive governance.
To achieve this, a technical consultant will be engaged to design and deliver high-quality training materials in collaboration with UNICEF staff, government officials, and local partner Education Pages. Based on the training package, CEHRD will develop a trainer roster, and Education Pages will facilitate training rollout for female headteachers and senior teachers.
