- Supporting inter-agency coordination and UNICEF’s leadership on disability inclusion.
- Supporting UNICEF’s programmes on gender mainstreaming through targeted interventions to support girls and women with disabilities.
- Ensuring disability inclusion architecture is enhanced through contribution in strategic planning and reporting.
Scope of Work:
The scope of work is the following:
- Support the mobility/orientation of the person during internal, external visits and field visits including foreign countries (setting up an enabling environment for the UNICEF employee they are supporting).
- To support the organization of data collection, knowledge documentation and drafting of reports.
- To support programme activities such as setting up meetings, conducting learning sessions, organizing interviews, events and focus group meetings and following up on agreed action points with relevant partners.
- Taking notes during internal meetings and external visits as instructed by UNICEF employee.
- Formatting documents and support with inserting comments/ feedback, graphics and pictures.
- Support with reading documents, describing graphics and illustrations which are not accessible to screen reader
software, preparing HIS, articles, posts, providing inputs to newsletters, summarizing the content of documents - Supporting to review and fill up forms related to agreements and contracts, preparing HIS, inputs to newsletters
- Facilitate the employee’s collaboration with other Sections, Divisions, and internal and external partners on
accessibility and assistive technology.
Deliverables/Outputs - Timeline
- UNICEF employee is supported with mobility during day-to-day travel to the meetings, and field visits, including international travel - e.g. 5 days a month
- All documents are carefully edited, proofread, summarized and finalized, so they’re clear, accurate, and professional - e.g. 5 days a month
- The texts requested by the Supervisor are compiled, converted to the relevant format, edited, with tracked changes, in Microsoft Word for feedback and approval - e.g. 2 days a month
- Content for draft presentations is developed, PowerPoint Presentations created and demonstrated are clear and visually appealing to effectively communicate key points and support the overall goals of meetings and events - e.g. 3 days a month
- Assistance provided in organizing and coordinating workshops, meetings, and events, making sure everything runs smoothly, and follow-up actions are taken with the right people -e.g. 6 days a month
Total e.g. 21 days a month
Travel is required.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- At least bachelor’s degree in social sciences, law or a related technical field.
- Experience working or supporting persons with disabilities/low vision is an asset.
- Experience in the UN system is an asset.
- Be able to accompany on a trip abroad as well as in the regions of Uzbekistan.
- Good editing, writing and computer skills.
- Fluency in English and Russian or Uzbek.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
