How can you make a difference?
UNICEF’s Office of Innovation is seeking an Event Specialist- Partnerships & Communications to support efforts to build and manage relationships with key audiences and stakeholders. This role will help strengthen a network of collaborators and partners and expand OOI’s sphere of influence in sectors and industries with the potential to help unlock innovation impact for this and coming generations.
The Event Specialist- Partnerships & Communications will be embedded in the Partnerships & Communication team to help shape organize, develop and facilitate a strategic approach to public engagement across a variety of platforms, events and activities.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Develop an annual events and key moments calendar and a public engagement strategy to complement OOI’s partnership and communication strategy.
- With direction from senior management, develop and implement workflow and processes to ensure strategic and consistent engagement with key stakeholders, collaborators and partners.
- Provide strategic guidance and support across OOI on key public engagement opportunities
- Coordinate OOI key events, campaigns, and advocacy initiatives in alignment with partnership and communication objectives
- Support the implementation of communication strategies through content gathering, production and promotion at key events and activities and for priority initiatives
- Assist in managing OOI digital platforms including websites and social media channels to ensure brand and messaging consistency
- Provide logistical and administrative support as needed to ensure smooth functioning of the partnership and communication team
- Monitor media coverage and public discourse related to children's issues and provide timely analysis and recommendations to enhance UNICEF's communication efforts.
- Ensure all public facing OOI communication and partnership assets are well documented and accessible in files and formats that can be used across a range of platforms, systems, design tools and systems.

Minimum requirements:

- Education:
- An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher*) in Design, Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or other relevant fields.
*A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
- An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher*) in Design, Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or other relevant fields.
- Work Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of proven professional experience in writing and content development for international organizations or media.
- A strong track record of delivering quality written content for external engagement and visibility.
- Proven experience of event management and coordination, content production for new and traditional media platforms is desired
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English is required.
Desirables:
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts. (This criteria is essential as a desirable and should be included in all job postings.)
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
- Knowledge of UNICEF’s and UNICEF’s Office of Innovation’s key messaging and focus areas (including data science, connectivity, open-source technology, working with start-ups and a range of other partners, etc.) is desired.
Travel:
- The consultant is expected to travel once to Stockholm, for a stay of 6 nights.
- The consultant is responsible for arranging his/her own travel, including visa and travel insurance.
Payment details and further considerations
- Payment of professional fees will be based on the submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.
