How can you make a difference? 

Scope of Work:

The Consultant will provide technical support to enrich and guide the development and implementation of three key anti-bullying initiatives identified by Sultan Qaboos University and the Ministry of Education, in partnership with UNICEF Oman. The consultant’s role will be primarily remote, and in case of international consultant in-country missions might be required.

The scope of work includes the following:

  1. Technical Review and Input
    • preventive, awareness-raising, and intervention programme tailored to the Omani school context.
    • practical guidebook for school staff to manage and respond to bullying cases.
    • Review and provide expert feedback on the design and content of the proposed school-based anti-bullying programme and guidebook and provide the needed revision and update to the programme and help finalize into a:
    • In doing so, the consultant will work to ensure alignment with international best practices and evidence-based approaches in bullying prevention and intervention.
  2. Resource Development Support
    • training package for teachers, developed in collaboration with school social workers and psychologists. Benefiting from exciting modules and programs that UNICEF implemented in other countries.
    • Contribute to the development and delivery of:
  3. Knowledge Sharing and Capacity Building
    • Share relevant international experiences, case studies, and tools that can be adapted to the local context.
    • Participate in virtual working sessions with national stakeholders to co-develop and refine the initiatives.
    • Facilitate or contribute to at least one knowledge exchange session (virtual) to present global models and lessons learned.
  4. Ongoing Advisory Support
    • Provide remote technical guidance throughout the assignment period.
    • Respond to queries and requests for input from the national team in a timely and collaborative manner.

Deliverables:

 

The consultant is expected to provide the following deliverables over the course of the assignment:

  1. Inception Report
    • A brief report outlining the consultant’s understanding of the assignment, proposed methodology, and a detailed work plan with timelines.
  2. Compendium of Resources References
    • A curated set of international resources, case studies, and tools relevant to bullying prevention and intervention, adapted or annotated for local use.
  1. Technical Review Notes
    • The school-based anti-bullying programme.
    • The practical guidebook for schools (Manual).
    • Provide inputs and contribute to the finalization of the program and guidebook as per the feedback above.
    • Written feedback and recommendations on the draft versions of the following initiatives:
  1. Resource Development Support
      • The training package for teachers. and ToT (Training of Trainers) sessions
      • Conduct the training and help MoE to develop a plan for rolling it out.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Child Protection, or a related field.
  • Work Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the field of child protection, education, or psychosocial support, with a strong focus on bullying prevention and school-based interventions.

Proven experience in designing and implementing anti-bullying programmes, training packages, or policy frameworks in school settings is a strong asset.

Demonstrated ability to adapt international best practices to local contexts, particularly in the MENA region or similar settings.

  • Language Requirements: Spoken and written Arabic and English are a must with deliverables made in both languages.
