How can you make a difference? 

UNICEF GSSC is looking for a dynamic individual with skills to develop and implement a comprehensive, future-oriented learning strategy that integrates modern delivery methods including AI-driven support, peer-to-peer learning, and on-the-job training to build both current capabilities and future-proof competencies across the organization that strategically aligns with organizational priorities and embedded in the evolving culture of the GSSC.

The Learning & Development Officer plays a strategic role in designing and executing the learning architecture for the Global Shared Service Centre during its critical transformation from a global service center to a Global Business Solutions (GBS) model, aligned with UNICEF's modernization agenda.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: A university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in learning & development, human resource management, psychology, International Relations or another related field is required.
  • Work Experience: 
  • Two years of professional experience in learning & development, in designing and delivering learning initiatives working closely with subject matter experts, and in the identification of learning needs are required.
  • Experience in facilitating workshops, both in -person and online, is highly desirable.
  • Experience both with an international organization and with a shared services/business support center is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: 
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles and concepts of adult learning, including AI-driven learning tools, social learning, and experiential learning is required.
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive learning needs assessments that identify both current skill gaps and future capabilities is required.
  • Experience in leading and overseeing learning product design, including ability to guide and quality-assure the work of instructional design teams is required
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders, including subject matter experts, learning focal points and external providers for efficient training development and delivery is required.
  • Strong research, planning and organizational skills are required.
  • Experience in learning strategy design is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of organizational development and change management principles as they relate to learning strategy is considered an asset.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English both verbal and written is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, French, Russian, Spanish or Chinese) or a local language is an asset.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance.  Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF. Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.

Government employees who are considered for employment with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government positions before taking up an assignment with UNICEF.
