UNICEF’s Digital Education and Learning Innovation portfolio supports governments and partners to strengthen education systems through equitable, safe, and effective use of digital technologies and AI. The portfolio includes global programmes, partnerships, knowledge products, and resource mobilization efforts that enable countries to scale impactful learning solutions.
To support growing partnership coordination, donor engagement, and knowledge management needs across the portfolio, UNICEF seeks an intern to provide analytical, coordination, and operational support to the Partnerships and Knowledge Management functions.
The intern will work under the supervision of the Partnerships Specialist and collaborate closely with the Communications Specialist and colleagues across UNICEF HQ, regional and country offices, and external partners.
How can you make a difference?
The intern’s primary focus will be on partnership intelligence and knowledge management, with exposure to resource mobilization and coordination support as a secondary area, depending on team priorities and workload. Responsibilities will be carried out and prioritized under the instruction and guidance of the supervisor.
- Partnerships Support (Primary Focus)
The intern will support partnership-related analytical and coordination tasks, including:
- Map and maintain an up-to-date database of strategic partners, donors, and stakeholders
- Support preparation of partnership briefs, profiles, and background notes
- Assist in coordinating meetings, workshops, and events (e.g. agendas, minutes, follow-ups)
- Assisting with desk research on prospective partners and collaboration opportunities
- Contributing to presentations and summary materials for partner engagement
- Knowledge Management & Communications (Primary Focus)
The intern will support knowledge management and documentation of learnings and insights for the priority countries implementing the UNICEF Digital Education Strategy, including:
- Organizing and structuring internal knowledge repositories (e.g. SharePoint)
- Supporting documentation of lessons learned, case studies, and good practices
- Assisting with drafting and editing short knowledge products (blogs, summaries, one pagers, newsletters) under guidance
- Supporting preparation of webinars or internal learning events (slides, notes, logistics)
- Assisting with synthesizing research, reports, and evaluations into concise internal summaries
- Supporting the updating of internal trackers or simple dashboards for programme information
- Resource Mobilization Support
Under supervision, the intern may support selected resource mobilization tasks, such as:
- Assisting with background research and compilation of inputs for donor proposals and concept notes
- Supporting the preparation of short donor briefs, fact sheets, or evidence summaries
- Helping gather results data, case studies, and examples for fundraising and donor communications
- Supporting the organization of shared repositories of proposal templates and reference materials
- Monitoring & Coordination Support
The intern may provide limited coordination and reporting support, including:
- Assisting with consolidating updates from colleagues into internal summaries
- Supporting preparation of internal briefing notes or progress updates
- Helping maintain simple trackers for meetings, deliverables, or events
- Support knowledge synthesis related to AI in education and digital transformation initiatives

Minimum requirements:
- Education: Enrolled in a master’s degree program at a recognized university, undergraduate level or a recent graduate (within two years from date of graduation) in education, international development, public policy, social sciences, communications, or related field.
- Prior internships, volunteering, research assistance, or student leadership roles considered an asset.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communications skills.
- Ability to conceptualize, plan and execute ideas.
- Fluency in English is required (additional UN language is an asset).
Desirables:
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.

WORK ARRANGEMENT:
The Intern will preferably work in-person at our office in Helsinki, Finland, for a period of 6 months.
Conditions:
- Age: Interns must be at least 18 years
- Have good academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
- Have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office.
- Have no other relatives in the line of authority which the intern will report to.
- Individuals must have proof of medical insurance covering the time and location of their internship.
- This internship will be delivered on a full-time commitment.
- Individuals are expected to provide their own laptop.
- Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend (unless already in receipt of any support for the internship from a third party).
- Individuals are responsible for arranging any visa or immigration requirements.
Employment: There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship.
