For every child, the right to hope
Haiti is facing one of the most complex humanitarian crises in the world. Armed violence, which extends far beyond the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area, continues to devastate entire communities and expose children to serious violations of their rights. As of early 2026, approximately 1.4 million people were internally displaced, nearly half of whom were children, while 2.6 million children were in need of humanitarian assistance. Nearly 5.7 million people—more than half of Haiti’s population—faced high levels of acute food insecurity, including 1.2 million children under the age of five. More than 1,600 schools were closed during the 2024–2025 school year, depriving more than 240,000 students of their right to education.
In light of these realities, and recognizing that the experiences of children can be highly sensitive, UNICEF aims to produce a series of four short animated videos based on real-life testimonies and/or situations. These videos aim to raise awareness among potential donors about the situation of Haitian children and to mobilize the resources needed to address their most urgent needs.
