Purpose of Activity/Assignment:

To manage youth-led initiatives and strategic communications under Generation Unlimited (GenU) Nigeria, including Green Rising, YOMA (Youth Agency Marketplace), and the Young People’s Action Team (YPAT). The consultant will document impact stories, manage digital campaigns, and ensure meaningful youth engagement across multiple platforms. The consultant will also contribute to event documentation, advocacy content, and youth mobilization to enhance the visibility and effectiveness of GenU’s programs

How can you make a difference? 

Scope of Work:

1. Contribute to GenU Nigeria communications and advocacy by amplifying youth voices and documenting programmatic impact.

2.Produce Green Rising content, including press releases, human-interest stories, media kits, photos, and videos.

3.Drive YOMA outreach through communication campaign support digital content creation, and documentation of field-level engagements.

4.Engage and coordinate Young People’s Action Team (YPAT) members, including campaign planning, youth leadership development, content support, and reporting.

5.Maintain structured monthly check-ins with YPAT members, track participation, and create a strategy plan for sustained engagement.

6.Support knowledge management, donor reporting, and social media content dissemination across GenU platforms.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

  • An advanced university degree in Business, Communications, Journalism, education, skills development (both
    digital and non-digital), and adolescents/youth engagement.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in r related fields with 2 years of experience in youth engagement, climate action, advocacy, and multimedia communication.
  • Area of expertise: Youth engagement, communication, campaign management and advocacy & Content development.
  • Experience of working in fast-paced, multicultural environments.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset. 
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws. 

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
