The Country Programme of Cooperation between the Government of Mozambique and UNICEF (CPD) for 2022-2026 aims to support Mozambique to accelerate efforts towards achieving the targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and meeting its commitment to respect, protect and fulfil the rights of children, in line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian Action. It derives from the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF), 2022–2026 and aligns with the Government Five-Year Plan 2020–2024, the National Development Strategy 2015–2035 and relevant sector policies and programmes.

How can you make a difference?
Reporting to the Nutrition Manager (P4) and with an indirect reporting relationship to the Chief Field Office, the Nutrition Specialist (Nutrition in Emergencies) NO3 supports the development and preparation of the emergency and humanitarian aspects of UNICEF’s nutrition programme countrywide and is responsible for managing, implementing, monitoring and reporting the programme progress within the country programme. The Nutrition Specialist (Nutrition in Emergencies) provides technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes to facilitate the administration and achievement of concrete and sustainable results in maternal, infant and child nutrition programmes/projects. Work will be done in close coordination with the government, UN agencies, international and national NGOs, and communities. The Nutrition Specialist (Nutrition in Emergencies) will also serve as the Nutrition Cluster Coordinator (50% staff time) supporting coordination of the overall nutrition programme for all humanitarian actors in the north. Work is carried out according to annual and multiyear plans, financial allocations, results based-management approaches and methodology (RBM), as well as UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, standards of performance, and accountability framework.
This is a Temporary Appointment post for 364 days based in Pemba, Mozambique.

Minimum requirements:
Education
- An Advanced University Degree in one of the following fields is required: nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global/international health and nutrition, health/nutrition research, policy and/or management, health sciences, nutritional epidemiology, or another health-related science field. A bachelor's or equivalent first level university degree in a relevant area combined with 2 additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
Work Experience
- At least five years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: nutrition, public health, nutrition planning and management, or maternal, infant and child health/nutrition care.
- Experience in emergency/ humanitarian settings is required.
- Experience in sector/ cluster coordination is required.
Language Requirements: Fluency in Portuguese and English is required.
Desirables:
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
- Experience in health/nutrition programme/project development and management in a UN system agency or organization is an asset.
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
