The UNICEF Viet Nam Country Office (VNCO) seeks an International Consultant to design, strengthen, and implement its digital fundraising and community engagement initiatives. Reporting to the Partnership Officer, the consultant will work closely with the Partnerships/PARMO, Comms, and Programme teams, under the overall guidance of the Representative and in coordination with the Deputy Representatives Operations and Programme, to align digital initiatives with UNICEF’s strategic partnership priorities. The consultant will be responsible for both the strategic review and planning of VNCO’s digital fundraising model and the hands-on implementation of digital marketing and community development activities

How can you make a difference? 

You will conduct a strategic review and planning of VNCO’s digital fundraising model and the hands-on implementation of digital marketing and community development activities.
 
1. Strategic Review and Model Development: 
 
  • Assess UNICEF Viet Nam’s current digital fundraising model in the context of local market conditions, peer practices, and other elements (including brand positioning, legal status and regulatory environment)
  • Propose refinements or alternative models to strengthen fundraising and community engagement effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Develop forecasts and cases for support to demonstrate the viability and potential of the proposed model.
  • Identify and recommend resourcing requirements (human, financial, and technical) needed to deliver the fundraising model successfully
2. Technical Infrastructure readiness and Vendor Management
  • Conduct a comprehensive review of UNICEF Viet Nam’s current digital fundraising infrastructure to assess readiness, security, and scalability.
  • Ensure that the digital engagement microsite is fully compliant with UNICEF global standards and Vietnamese legal requirements, including user privacy, data protection, and PCI compliance.
  • Oversee the integration and functionality of payment gateways, ensuring a seamless supporter experience across multiple channels.
  • Review and strengthen the integration between Salesforce CRM and digital touchpoints (microsite, social platforms, paid ads, email marketing tools) to enable accurate donor tracking, segmentation, and reporting.
  • Establish robust web analytics and tracking systems to monitor conversion, optimize campaigns, and provide real-time insights.
  • Review and guide procurement processes for supporting vendors, ensuring contracts meet UNICEF requirements on compliance, transparency, and accountability.
  • Develop a technical project plan and timeline for infrastructure optimization, including milestones for microsite upgrades, payment system integration, CRM alignment, and vendor delivery.
  • Provide ongoing oversight and troubleshooting during implementation, working closely with UNICEF Viet Nam teams, local vendors, the Regional Support Centre and UNICEF’s Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) Division.

3. Digital Strategy and Channel Development 

  • Design a comprehensive digital fundraising and marketing strategy, to drive supporter acquisition, retention, and engagement.
  • Support strategic development  and expansion of UNICEF Viet Nam’s digital channels (website, social media, paid media, email, and emerging platforms) to meet campaign and fundraising goals.
  • Develop and execute digital community-building initiatives to increase online participation, advocacy actions, and donor engagement.
  • Define and implement initial digital test plans (e.g., donor acquisition campaigns, engagement pilots), and oversee their execution if time allows

4.  Planning, Capacity Building, Monitoring

  • Develop a multi-year digital fundraising plan (2026–2029), including growth strategies, budgets, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Provide technical support and capacity building to UNICEF Viet Nam staff to ensure sustainable delivery of the digital programme
  • Establish monitoring and reporting systems to track progress and provide actionable insights for optimization.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Minimum requirements:

Education: University degree in Marketing, communications, digital Media, ICT or other relevant field required.

Work Experience: 

  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible and relevant professional international work experience in individual giving, digital fundraising, and customer relations management (CRM) management.
  • Experience working in the East Asia and Pacific region and possessing a strong understanding of the regional individual giving and digital fundraising landscape.

Skills

  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to create detailed project plans, manage timelines, and coordinate with multiple stakeholders. 
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations and PCI, and best practices for donor data management and security. 
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build consensus and collaborate effectively with diverse groups, including internal teams, external vendors, and regional and HQ offices. 
  • Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment. 
  • Proven experience in navigating complex organizational structures and working with international teams to align on strategic goals and project deliverables. 
  • Proven track record of creating a compelling case for investment in new fundraising initiatives, managing budgets, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of digital fundraising campaigns. 
  • Ability to multi-task, to handle stressful situations effectively; and to work well under pressure and in response to changing needs 
  • Good interpersonal skills, and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations within a team. 
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team. 

Language Requirements:  Fluency in English is required

Payment of professional fees will be based on the submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.
