UNICEF Lebanon’s Education Programme is  channeled through the MEHE/UNICEF Transition and Resilience Education Fund (TREF). TREF supports the Government of Lebanon, particularly the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE), to ensure equitable access to quality education for all children affected by crisis, irrespective of nationality. The country continues to face a complex humanitarian and economic crisis with large numbers of out‑of‑school children, displacement due to conflict, and significant pressure on the public education system. Within this context UNICEF supports Education in Emergencies (EiE) response, school reopening and continuity of learning, Multiple Flexible Pathways (including Makani and Dirasa), education sector coordination, and long‑term system strengthening.

How can you make a difference? 

Under the guidance and general supervision of the Education Manager P4,the Education Specialist (P3) will be performing the following key tasks :

  1. Enhance Education in Emergencies (EiE) Response and School Reopening
  2. Contribute to the Education Sector Coordination and Nexus Transition

  3. Contribute to the operations of the Transition and Resilience Education Fund (TREF)
  4. Programme Planning, Monitoring and Reporting

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

  • Education:  Advanced university degree in Education, International Development, Social Sciences, Public Policy or related field. Two years of additional relevant work experience that was gained after obtaining a bachelor’s degree3 may be accepted in lieu of advanced degree. 
  • Work Experience:  At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in education programming, preferably in Education in Emergencies, sector coordination, or education system strengthening.
  • Skills: 
    • Experience in education in Emergencies (EiE) programming and response is required.
    • Experience in non-Formal Education (NFE) and alternative learning pathways is required.
    • Experience in sector coordination and partnership management is required.
    • Experience in monitoring, evaluation, and data analysis (RBM, indicators, and reporting) is required.
    • Experience in policy dialogue and education systems strengthening is an asset.
    • Experience in donor reporting and programme documentation is highly desirable.
    • Experience in capacity building for government counterparts and implementing partners is required.
  • Language Requirements:  Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.

Desirables:

  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
