For every child, the right to Hope

Purpose of Activity/Assignment:

To document and give visibility to the multisectoral responses delivered by UNICEF—and as a complement to implementation reports—the APC Section wishes to recruit a consultant to produce editorial content that will both meet donors’ needs and increase the visibility of UNICEF and its activities.

The urgency and the time required to meet the demand for such editorial production—particularly “Human Interest Stories” for donor reports—require external support, given the scale of demand and the request for increasingly creative approaches to donor visibility.

Objective of the consultancy

The objective is to meet donors’ requirements, highlight UNICEF’s actions, and improve visibility—especially online—in order to attract more partners and donors.

How can you make a difference?

Scope of Work:

The editorial content to be produced will cover Education, Protection, WASH, Health, Nutrition and Social Protection. Human Interest Stories (HIS), photos, and other creative content are to be produced in all UNICEF intervention regions.

The content should emphasize positive and qualitative changes (in terms of knowledge, quality/living environment, practices, holistic care for children and young people, etc.) that UNICEF’s actions and those of its partners have helped achieve.

The consultant will deliver three packages of content, selecting from the following two options below, in consultation with APC:

  • Human interest story package regarding a specific donor-funded project/initiative, comprising: one human interest story, minimum five accompanying photos, five b-rolls related to the project (of minimum 10-20 seconds each), and two related social media posts
  • Video package, comprising one final edited video of 1-3 minutes length, with English sub-titles and title cards, all fully compliant with UNICEF branding.

Human interest stories should be of approximately 1,000 words each, with quotes and clear donor mentions. Photos should be of high resolution and with detailed captions, in line with UNICEF standards. Social media posts should be appropriate for use on UNICEF’s Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok platforms. Videos may be either vertical or horizontal style, depending on specific donor needs, in consultation with APC team.

All content must be produced in compliance with UNICEF ethical standards and with respect for the rights and dignity of individuals and children. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring the documented consent (through official documents) of participants and/or children’s guardians.
