For every child, a Champion
The Rome Common Services Center (CSC) will be newly established following the relocation of several UNICEF HQ Divisions to Rome, where they will be co-located with WFP HQ. The Rome CSC will play a critical role in delivering operational support to all UNICEF Divisions based in Rome as well as coordinating closely with WFP on the services provided to UNICEF.
Under the supervision of the ICT Officer (P2) who manages Digital Infrastructure in the Rome CSC, the incumbent will support the management and maintenance of the network and cloud infrastructures and related devices and services that form the office’s digital backbone of the office, ensuring reliable and efficient information processing and data flow to support business operations, communication and growth as well as for emergency preparedness.
How can you make a difference....
1. Technical Support and Logistics Coordination
- Providing on-demand technical assistance for network connectivity, and audio-visual (AV) equipment to prevent downtime and resolve issues in real-time for internal and external meeting support.
- Managing the technological aspects of event logistics, such as digital floor plans, check-in systems (e.g., QR codes, RFID), and communication systems among staff and attendees.
- Implementing technologies like live streaming, virtual platforms, and live captioning to make events and meetings accessible to a broader, potentially global, audience and accommodate diverse needs.
- Delivering first-line support, resolving hardware/software issues, and assisting user with network access, all through service calls and escalation
2. Providing Emergency telecoms support
- Providing and maintaining digital services over network such as cloud printing, etc.
- Providing mobile devices setup, maintenance, as well as tracking.
- Providing internal and external meeting support.
3. Network & Infrastructure Maintenance
- Monitoring network performance, cloud resources capacity, and ensuring the safety and security of systems.
- Protecting sensitive data from unauthorized use, modification, loss, or release. This includes securing mobile core networks, signaling systems, and user data.
- Verifying that data is accurate and not tampered with, while verifying the identity of users and devices accessing the network.
4. Operational Efficiency
- Coordinate with WFP-TEC team for level 3 support
- Support WFP TEC services, SLA and change management
- Handle fixed and mobile usage and data for cost recovery
5. Security, Continuity, and Compliance
- Supporting the implementation and enforcement of security policies, conducting regular audits and coordinating penetration tests.
- Ensuring all systems comply with relevant policies and rules to safeguard sensitive data from cyber threats.
- Ensuring network services remain operational, resilient, and accessible to prevent disruption from attacks like ransomware or malware.
- Meeting organization’s policies and industry standards in protecting sensitive data such as Personal Identifiable Information (PII) to build trust in the digital ecosystem.
To qualify as a Champion for every child you will have…
Education :
- Completion of secondary education is required.
- Professional and/or university courses related to computer science or technical courses on Microsoft network, VMWare, Citrix, Cloud Computing, in addition to networking and system administration is an asset.
- ITIL Foundation Certificate or equivalent customer support certification is an asset.
Experience:
- A minimum of 6 years of working experience in the IT field, preferably as a Local Systems Administrator in IT Services Management framework, connectivity, networking, system administration and hardware/software, requiring systematic methods of troubleshooting and problem solving is required.
- Working experience on mobile hardware, architecture, protocols, and OS fundamentals is an asset.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Entra, HP Storage systems, VMWare, Cisco OS, Citrix XenApp and relevant administration tools and techniques, is required.
- Experience in managing and maintaining cloud services such as Infrastructure, Platform, etc. as a Service, is an asset.
- A global concept of the functioning of ICT and UN/UNICEF experience is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft suite such as MS365, MS Sharepoint, MS Teams, MS Copilot etc. is an asset.
Language Requirements :
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
