How can you make a difference?

As the Technology for Development Associate, you will provide day-to-day operational, technical and coordination support to UNICEF Guinea's Technology for Development portfolio. You will assist the Technology for Development Specialist in identifying, deploying and sustaining digital solutions that strengthen programme delivery across all sectors. In Guinea, where ICT infrastructure is limited and digital literacy varies widely, you will play a hands-on role in user support, system configuration, field-level capacity building and documentation. This role bridges the gap between programme ambitions and technical implementation and contributes directly to the Country Office's digital transformation agenda.

As the Technology for Development Associate, you will work closely with programme staff across Health, Nutrition, WASH, Education, Child Protection and Social Policy sections; support coordination with government ICT counterparts (e.g., ANAFIC, Ministère de la Santé, MEPU-EC); and may provide guidance to ICT support staff or consultants in field offices.

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: Completion of Secondary education is required. A professional diploma or university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Digital Systems, Telecommunications or a related technical field is highly desirable.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 6 years of practical work experience in information technology is required, including direct experience with ICT systems administration, mobile data collection tools and user support in a development or humanitarian context. A bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a field relevant to the position may replace three years of related work experience. A master’s degree may replace an additional two years.
  • Skills: Cybersecurity, Information Security Awareness, User Support.
  • Language Requirements: Proficient/Fluent level of French is required.

Desirables:

  • Good working knowledge of English or knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish) or a local language (Pular, Malinké, Soussou) is an asset.
  • Experience working in Francophone West Africa, preferably in Guinea or a comparable operating environment is an asset.
  • Familiarity with DHIS2 (configuration, data entry or reporting) and/or Primero (case management) in a UNICEF, UN or INGO context is an asset.
  • Experience supporting digital data collection in large-scale surveys or assessments (MICS, nutrition surveys, rapid assessments) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of network administration (LAN/WAN, VPN, firewall) and endpoint management (Windows, Android) in field office environments is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration (SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive) and Power BI for data visualisation is an asset.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
