UNICEF Jakarta is looking for Chief Social Policy who is responsible for leading, managing and supervising all stages of social policy programming and related advocacy from strategic planning and formulation to delivery of concrete and sustainable results. This includes programmes aimed at improving (a) public policies to reduce child poverty; (b) social protection coverage and impact on children; (c) the transparency, adequacy, equity and efficiency of child-focused public investments and financial management; and (d) governance, decentralization and accountability measures to increase public participation and the quality, equity and coverage of social services. This encompasses both direct programme work with government and civil society partners as well as linkages and support to teams working on education, health, nutrition, child protection and water and sanitation. UNICEF Pacific is in search of a dedicated and proactive national consultant. The consultancy is for a period of 520 days over 24 months. The consultant will be based in Pohnpei, FSM for the entire duration of the assignment providing programmatic and technical assistance through effective collaboration with both the Government and development partners, and capacity-building support. S/he will work under supervision of ATscale government focal point (Assistant Secretary of Special Services Unit, National Department of Education, FSM), who provides strategic leadership in the project implementation. The coordinator will also work closely with the Maternal and Child Health Specialist from the UNICEF North Pacific Field Office, who will provide oversight, technical guidance and project/financial management support in coordination with the UNICEF Pacific Multi-Country Office (MCO). Do you have a passion for bringing solar energy to schools, health facilities, and communities that are most in need? UNICEF Pacific seeks for one or multiple individual consultants for a period of 300 working days (as and when required) stretched over 36 Months for the Pacific Island countries. The consultant(s) will be required to extensively travel and conduct site supervision within these countries with period at home/office to develop, design, report and plan activities. S/he will provide specialized technical expertise, on site assessment, system design review, quality assurance, and field supervision for solar PV installations, power backup systems, and electromechanical components integrated into WASH, health, and education infrastructure. The consultant’s primary role will be to assess, review, and support the design, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance planning of solar and renewable energy systems in communities, schools, and health facilities across Pacific Island countries and territories. This includes ensuring systems meet required standards of safety, reliability, efficiency, durability, and resilience to Pacific environmental conditions such as cyclones, salt corrosion, high humidity, and heat.
