National consultancy to provide technical assistance on developing SOPs on heatwaves, sandstorms, and revision of teacher’s manual “Basics of Life Skills”. at Turkmenistan

Government approved a national “Plan of Actions to Prevent the Health Effects of Heat” in 2022, which outlines preventive and response measures for the health sector. However, this plan now needs to be translated into on-the-ground protocols and capacities, further reaching communities with appropriate messages. Implementing heatwave and sand and dust storms’ standard operating procedures (SOPs) in health and education services is a priority adaptation measure to protect communities and children. In parallel, UNICEF will support institutionalizing knowledge through revision and update of the teachers' manual Basics of Life Skills: A Methodological Guide for Teachers, used in higher education institutions to convey life-skills content to their students.

International Consultant to Develop a Strategy to Reinforce UNICEF WASH Positioning in the Caribbean, Programme Section, 2 months,Bridgetown, Barbados, Remote at Barbados

The Caribbean region faces ongoing challenges in achieving universal access to safe and resilient WASH services. While basic coverage is generally high, significant gaps remain in rural areas, small island states, informal settlements, and vulnerable communities. Aging infrastructure, weak wastewater and fecal sludge management systems, limited financing, and fragmented governance continue to affect service quality, sustainability, and public health outcomes. To address these challenges, stronger sector governance, sustainable financing, and institutional capacity are needed. UNICEF and its partners recognize that infrastructure investments alone are insufficient and emphasize the importance of strengthening human resources, sector leadership, climate-resilient planning, utility performance, and knowledge sharing. Regional cooperation, partnerships with academic institutions, and capacity-building initiatives are key to advancing resilient and safely managed WASH services across the Caribbean.
