How can you make a difference? 

Under the oversight and guidance of the supervisor, the Field Support Associate assists the Social Policy Officer (NOB) and the Deputy Representative by carrying out a range of programme support functions to design, implement, and monitor programmes in selected territories, ensuring effective and timely results that is consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations.  

The Field Support Associate works in close collaboration with a range of staff in the CO, especially UNVs in the field, external partners, and agency counterparts in support of programme design and delivery.

S/He provides regular feedback on the status of projects through monitoring milestones and advises on improvements to keep activities on track.

 

Key Responsibilities

Supports the NOB Social Policy Officer, in his/her role of supervisor of UNV, through the processing of information from the field, facilitation of communication with territories, and forecasting of scenarios challenges and solutions.

  • Coordinates UNVs work at the municipal levels, that include, among others: support them in the production of monthly work and travel plans, first review the reports of the Field UNVs, follows up on their regular tasks and provide consistent and systematic feedback.
  • Supports capacity development activities related to UNVs development by preparing training materials and participating in exercises. Actively accompanies the UNVs in implementing their tasks.
  • Maintains systematic contact with all UNVs at the sub-national level. Provides advice, monitors staff well-being, signals any challenges regarding staff security.
  • Preparing monitoring and reporting information of UNV deployment at the field, for supervisor and team on agreed performance indicators to drive more efficient management and accountability for results.
  • Supports the coordination of programme monitoring in selected districts and reporting team-members on the status.
  • Supporting the programme section in researching, compiling, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data and information from a variety of sources on field deployment to facilitate programme delivery as well as preparation of reports, working papers and presentations. 
  • Carrying out transactions in VISION ensuring programme results, activities and programme coding are as per annual work plans (AWPs) and making amendments and alterations as per section revisions when necessary.
  • Liaison with Operations Section, People and Culture and Security for UNV’s  needs in logistics, security, wellbeing and other

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: Completion of secondary education is required with complementary technical or university courses in one of the following fields: Social Sciences, International Relations, Government, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Policy, Social Development, Community Development, or another relevant technical field.

For this position, a bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a relevant field may replace three years of related work experience and a master´s degree may replace an additional two years.

  • Work Experience: A minimum of six years of administrative or project management work experience is required.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in Spanish and Intermediate English is required

Desirables:

  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.
  • Prior experience in programme support functions is an asset.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance.  Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF.
