The Public Partnerships consultant will support the team responsible for the relationship with several European partners, including Germany. This position reports to the Public Partnerships Manager in Berlin and supports the liaison to the different partners and stakeholders in the German development and humanitarian community.

The Public Partnerships Consultant will support the team with upcoming key moments for advocacy, influence and resource mobilization as well as producing analytical and knowledge management products.

Positioned within the Germany team of Public Partnerships Division (PPD) of UNICEF, the Public Partnerships Consultant will be an integral part of the Germany+++ team and contribute to maintaining and further deepening relationships with key governmental and intergovernmental partners. The team works on fostering collaboration primarily with governments of Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland, partner countries’ development agencies as well as UNICEF National Committees for safeguarding the rights of all children. The consultancy offers a dynamic set of assignments and will provide exposure to the operations of UNICEF as an agency of the United Nations.

How can you make a difference? 

The consultancy aims to assist the PPD-Germany team with a variety of functions that are essential for maintaining strong relationships with partners within the Germany portfolio. Specifically, the tasks of the consultant will include:

  1. Meeting Preparation, Coordination, and Facilitation: This includes organizing and facilitating both technical and high-level meetings. The consultant will ensure all logistical and content preparations are completed and that agendas, materials, and briefings are well-prepared and disseminated.
  2. Engagement and Follow-Up: The consultant will also handle post-meeting follow-ups to keep momentum and align on next steps, including documentation of action points, ensuring that outcomes are communicated effectively to stakeholders.
  3. Report and Pitch Development: Another major function will be the creation of high-quality reports and tailored pitches.

Specific work assignment (not limited to):

The Public Partnerships consultant will support the team with a focus on engaging stakeholders in Germany, contributing to meaningful youth engagement, ensuring high-quality communication and reporting on results as well as supporting advocacy efforts. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Analysis and Brief Preparation: Producing comprehensive draft materials for election engagement, like briefs, notes, funding analyses and statistics to inform high-level and strategic events and meetings.
  2. Partner outreach: Creating and maintaining a suite of partnership assets, including results-focused presentations and one-pagers, online events and briefings
  3. Quality assurance: Working with country offices to support reports review and submission of quality-checked project proposals
  4. Youth engagement: Coordinate all aspects, logistical and programmatic, to ensure the meaningful participation of young people at international conferences
  5. Event Facilitation: Coordinating all stages of events, including preparation, execution, and follow-up, to ensure smooth engagement with stakeholders
  6. Internal Coordination: Organizing internal working groups, overseeing UNICEF’s role in various events, and managing follow-up actions like drafting NfRs and oversight the collection of inputs for drafting communiqués, etc.
  7. Communication: Support the joint communications plan on a monthly basis, regularly produce social media posts and conduct social media analysis, monitoring and coordination with COs/ ROs to improve donor recognition and visibility.
  8. Knowledge management: Ensure the CRM is updated with donor profiles and project pipeline
  9. UNICEF may expect this consultant to undertake duty travel to support their work for UNICEF as and if needed. Such duty travel will be authorized on a case by case basis.

          

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

  • Bachelor's degree in Global Studies, Political Studies, International Relations or a relevant field
  • One (1) year progressively responsible professional experience in national or international public service related to external relations, resource mobilization, planning, or project management related activities.
  • Experience with UNICEF’s ways of working and information flows, especially from a public partnership perspective, is an asset.
  • Experience in coordinating youth participation and engagement in international conferences is required;
  • Experience in interacting with German Ministries is a must.
  • Fluency in English and German (written and verbal) is required;
  • Experience working with Salesforce and AI tools is required;
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners;
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws. 

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
