UNICEF's Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in Budapest, Hungary provides services to UNICEF offices globally in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Payroll and Information Technology.

How can you make a difference?

GSSC is seeking a communication professional to support the GSSC Communication Team in preparing communication materials, updating the GSSC SharePoint sites and other communication channels, and creating impactful people-centric and result-oriented content. The Communication Assistant will also collaborate for the timely production of communications materials such as newsletters, infographics and flyers, monitor platform usage and provide support to knowledge sharing platforms, and deliver other administrative and technical support.

This is a Temporary Appointment with a duration of 364 days with the possibility of further extension.

Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:

  1. Content creation, maintenance and visual design

 

  • Produce and manage content for GSSC intranet sites and web platforms, including articles, newsletters, and Viva Engage posts, to support internal and external communication activities.
  • Provide support to content /site owners across the GSSC.
  • Design and visually enhance presentations, flyers and other communication materials, ensuring alignment with UNICEF branding and communication standards.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination and production of the GSSC’s internal podcast and other multimedia projects, including scheduling, content planning and video editing support.

 

  1. Internal communication and staff engagement
  • Assist in the planning, organization and execution of internal communications campaigns in line with the Communications Team workplan.
  • Assist in the planning, organization and execution of GSSC staff engagement activities and events.
  1. Digital platform management and reporting
  • Maintain and update GSSC SharePoint intranet platforms, incl. creating well-designed new pages specific to GSSC projects and initiatives, and ensuring content is accurate, timely and accessible,
  • Manage content on GSSC digital screens to ensure up-to-date and relevant information sharing.
  • Support the organization and upkeep of the GSSC Document Library.
  • Compile and produce monthly reports on engagement metrics, campaign performance and platform usage to support data-driven decision making.

 

  1. Technical support
  • Provide technical assistance on SharePoint tools, content management and knowledge management systems.

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: Completion of secondary education (high school diploma) is required.
  • Work Experience: 5 years of relevant work experience in communication related field is required for candidates without university degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in communication related field is required for candidates holding bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, international relations/development or related field. A relevant master’s degree may replace additional 2 years.
  • Skills: Solid knowledge of Office365 is required.
  • Experience with content management systems is required, preferably in SharePoint.
  • Language Requirements: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are required.
  • Work permit/residency: Candidates must either be Hungarian nationals/other EU/Schengen country nationals or hold a valid long-term Hungarian residency and work permit (not sponsored by the employer) at the time of submitting the job application.

Desirables:

  • Experience within the United Nations or other international organization is an asset.
  • Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an asset.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite or similar graphics tools is desirable.
  • Shared Service Centre experience is desirable.

Requirement for internal applicants  

Internal applicants from the GSSC must have their Learning Paths completed already at the time of application otherwise they cannot be considered. Additionally, they must attach a snapshot/copy of the completed path at their current grade to their applications.

Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
