In Madagascar, where access to healthcare can be a challenge in remote areas, the Immunization (EPI) Officer will play a vital role in improving child health outcomes by strengthening the national immunization program. With a focus on expanding vaccination coverage, especially in underserved regions, the officer will support efforts to combat vaccine-preventable diseases and ensure that every child, regardless of their location, receives the vaccines they need for a healthy life. How can you make a difference?
As an Immunization (EPI) Officer, you will play a pivotal role in improving the health and well-being of children and families across the country. By contributing to the effective implementation of Immunization (EPI) programs, you will directly impact vaccination coverage, ensure better health outcomes, and help prevent the spread of preventable diseases. Your efforts will drive change, particularly in vulnerable communities, and contribute to global health goals.
Key Activities:
- Enhance Immunization Coverage: Support and monitor the delivery of life-saving vaccines to underserved populations, ensuring timely, high-quality immunization services.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Provide accurate, up-to-date data and analysis to inform program design, management, and progress tracking.
- Capacity Building: Help strengthen the skills of country office staff and vaccination teams, empowering them to deliver more effective immunization services.
- Field Engagement: Conduct regular field visits to monitor program activities, provide technical support, and ensure vaccination programs are on track.
- Collaboration & Advocacy: Work closely with government counterparts, partners, and communities to promote immunization, improve program outcomes, and share best practices.
- Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to the development and dissemination of training materials and best practices, sharing vital information with donors and the media.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Minimum requirements:
- Education:
University degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Social Sciences, Medicine, Health, Public Health, Family Health, Child Development, Nursing, or a field relevant to international development assistance in Immunization and Child Survival & Health Care.
- Work Experience:
Two years of relevant professional work experience in planning, programming, implementation monitoring, and evaluation of health/Immunization program/project activities is required.
Experience working in the UN and Field work experience are assets.
- Language Requirements: Fluency in French is required. Knowledge of English is an asset

- Field work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
