UNICEF Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) Division is based in Geneva with the remit to serve the global organization, including the network of 33 UNICEF National Committees, with leadership and technical support to achieve our goals of engaging with the Private Sector. This position is in the Programme Coordination Unit that supports both private and public sector colleagues across the organization to leverage game changing partnerships with UNICEF by strategically connecting them to how UNICEF programmes and operates around the world.

The purpose of this job is to provide technical expertise in results-based donor reporting. The Programme Specialist will support in the implementation of the results-based reporting procedure to enhance effective reporting to the private sector and the processes to streamline and create efficiencies in global reports. 

How can you make a difference?

The objective of the role is to facilitate a stronger result articulation in UNICEF’s global and donor reports and the development or updating of relevant reporting guidance, training materials, and assets, in alignment with UNICEF’s results model and existing policies, procedures, and directives, to ensure the anchoring of UNICEF’s Results and Results Programming (RRP) principles in private sector partnerships.

DELIVERABLES:

1. Results-based quality reporting to partners

  • Provide technical guidance to and equip various UNICEF teams with the necessary skills and resources to consistently use agreed-upon donor proposal writing and reporting templates, resulting in clear articulation of program outcomes for children.
  • Contribute to projects to strengthen global partnerships results narratives and align UNICEF’s results reporting with emerging private sector needs (e.g., new requirements from ESG regulations).
  • Ensure close coordination with teams within PFP, Public Partnership Division (PPD), and with UNICEF National Committees and Private Sector Fundraising (PSFR) Country Offices.

2. Consolidated reporting of Core Resources (RR) results

  • Collate results data from UNICEF’s reporting system to systematically report Country Offices’ RR results across all Strategic Plan areas.
  • Contribute to new assets (e.g., CPD impact studies) to communicate RR results to private and public sector partners.
  • Support internal consultations and content plan for the global RR report 2024.
  • Ensure close coordination within PFP and with PPD, Programme Group, Division of Data, Analytics, Planning and Monitoring, and UNICEF Country Offices.

3. Effective knowledge management on reporting for improved organizational learning

  • Enable effective knowledge management on reporting including customized assets for various audiences.
  • Promote the use of the Private Sector Intranet as one-stop-shop for technical resources on reporting across all UNICEF funding types.
  • Support targeted learning sessions on knowledge management-related issues, tools, and platforms.
  • Ensure engagement with UNICEF National Committees and PSFR Country Offices.

Education:

  • An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: international relations and development, social sciences, or a related technical field.
  • Alternatively, a first-level university degree in combination with two years of additional work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in the field of development and experience in programme planning, management, and reporting is required.
  • Strong exposure to both programme management and public and private sector partnerships is an asset.
  • Solid understanding of and experience in planning, tracking, and articulating results, and preparing donor reports, including quality assurance.
  • Familiarity with UN/UNICEF systems for results-based management, financial reporting, and partnerships is an asset.
  • Strong motivation to and demonstrated experience in improving results-based donor reporting is an asset, as the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to a larger change management initiative for quality donor reporting across the organization.
  • Strong planning/organizing, writing, analytical, strategic thinking, and creative thinking skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including engaging and informative formal public speaking.

Language requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
