UNICEF's Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in Budapest, Hungary supports UNICEF operations globally in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Payroll and Information Technology. Internships with UNICEF offer eligible candidates the opportunity to gain experience in UNICEF’s work and get familiar with its mandate.

We offer you the opportunity to put into practice the knowledge you acquired during your studies. In addition to theoretical knowledge, you will also gain initial practical experience.

As our new intern will support the Quality Assurance team (QA) of the Service Quality Management (SQM) unit. Quality Assurance advocates and promotes quality through testing, independent insight on root causes and provides recommendations for major service delivery processes in the GSSC.

Under the overall supervision and guidance of Quality Assurance, the intern will perform data analysis, take part in regular QA regular checks and deep dives, also the coordination and support functions of the QA team.

How can you make a difference? 

• Use dashboards and datasets with various complexity to design and run analysis.
• Assist in translating QA business needs into data-driven quality assurance solutions.
• Experiment with and implement various data cleaning, data preparation and data analysis techniques to develop solutions that give answers to the QA business questions.
• Document the methodology and process steps applied. Prepare relevant documentation with key information for dissemination (PowerPoint presentations, briefs, reports etc.)
• Assist the QA team in preparing monthly QA reports in the form of data collection, data entry and maintaining sheets.
• Participate in regular QA transaction testing.
• Participate in specific tasks on ongoing QA projects.
• Other support activities, to be determined.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

• Current enrollment in a degree programme at the Bachelor or Masters level or recent graduate (within the last 2 years) with data analytics profile, preferably in the areas of Economics, Sociology, Mathematics, Business Administration, Public Administration, or other related fields.
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
• Eligible applicants must be nationals of EU countries or be eligible to work in Hungary.
• Individuals are personally responsible for obtaining any required visa or residence permit, covering the entire period of their internship.
• The selected intern will be required to provide proof of enrolment in a health/accident plan prior taking up the assignment.

Required competencies:

• Analytical – Knowledge of methods and tools used for statistical analysis is a strong asset.
• Technical – Very good analytical skills and ability to synthesize concepts and material into clear and concise thoughts.
• Technical – Experience with database tables, PowerBI.
• Managing resources – Organizes and manages information to achieve defined goals and optimum results.
• Communication – Effectively presents thoughts and ideas including complex technical concepts, in a clear, concise, and readily understood manner, both verbally and in writing. Listens to and acknowledges others' perspectives and views.
• Flexibility – Works effectively on multiple assignments simultaneously and adapts to changing demands and circumstances.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills – Able to work well in a team environment.
• Ability to work independently.

Contract Duration and Terms

This contract is for an initial 3-month duration, 30-40 working hours/week, a minimum of 3 days per week office attendance required, 2 days per week can be remote. Intern is expected to be in the office when needed for specific activities. The anticipated start date of this internship is December 2024. The intern must fund their travel and living expenses. This internship is paid with a stipend of net HUF 2105 / hour capped at net HUF 362,133 per month. Interns may take up to 2.5 paid leave days per month for any reason, including for medical reasons. The stipend will be reduced for any absence beyond this quota.
