Purpose of Activity/Assignment

The knowledge management and communication consultant will be the main focal point to maintain and further develop UNICEF ECARO Evaluation SharePoint and external ECARO Evaluation Web Page.

Scope of Work

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining and developing new sections in the ECARO Evaluation SharePoint and webpages and other platforms as required.
  • Prepare materials to be uploaded to the External UNICEF ECARO Evaluation page.
  • Support the management and update of the existing pages.
  • Editing and revising content before publishing to make sure it is complying with UNICEF corporate visual and communication guidelines.
  • Providing relevant guidance in the use of SharePoint sites and other digital apps functions, configuration and design.
  • Contributing to the development of templates and other materials to disseminate knowledge products.
  • Curating picture in UNICEF’s image bank WeShare to complement the content to be published in the website and SharePoint.
  • Contributing to the development of digital materials to disseminate knowledge products.
  • Preparation of section newsletter Eval-News.
  • Working together with other sections/units to make sure that information is readily available and connected to other sites/workspaces.
  • Managing permission levels to document libraries and pages.
  • Uploading files received and add the relevant metadata to all the files in the library while ensuring that they are visible to relevant staff.

Consultant's Work Place and Official Travel

The Consultant will be remote/home-based with no travels foreseen.

Estimated Cost of the Consultancy & Payment Schedule

Payment will be made on submission of an invoice and satisfactory completion of the above-mentioned deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold all or a portion of payment if performance is unsatisfactory, if work/outputs are incomplete, not delivered or for failure to meet deadlines. All materials developed will remain the copyright of UNICEF and UNICEF will be free to adapt and modify them in the future.

Please submit a professional fee (in USD) based on 70 working days to undertake this assignment.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Bachelor's degree in International development, International Relations, Business Administration, or another relevant field.
  • Minimum two (2) years work experience in knowledge management and related areas (information management, learning, community management, communication, monitoring & evaluation).
  • Excellent written communication in English, especially for online publishing.
  • Knowledge of international development and humanitarian work is considered and asset.
  • Highly proficient in a range of PC/web applications, including but not limited to: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, MS Teams, and Zoom.
  • Experience with designing and facilitating engaging peer learning, knowledge sharing, and group reflection sessions.
  • It is preferable that the individual has experience with, or in, multilateral institutions. Knowledge of UNICEF context essential. Knowledge of UN common practices in HR an added advantage.
  • Basic ability with visual design, and Takes ownership and initiative and can work both independently and effectively in a team environment.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
