How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision and guidance of the Finance Officer the Finance Associate (Payments) will supervise, review and direct payments for the assigned area of responsibility. The Finance Associate will provide guidance and support to UNICEF offices and divisions in response to queries on payments within the area of assignment ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and related policies, taking corrective action where required.

Furthermore, Finance Associate will give technical guidance to junior payments staff to ensure that the payments within the responsibility area are processed accurately and as per UNICEF financial policies and procedures.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of secondary education (i.e., high school diploma) is a minimum requirement. University level courses in finance, accounting or business are desirable.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience is required. Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience is required for candidates with completed bachelor’s degree. A relevant master’s degree replaces an additional two years.
  • Good command of ERP systems such as SAP and of MS Office package, especially MS Excel is required.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize tasks is required.
  • Ability to analyze & interpret large data sets using Power BI to reveal patterns & trends is required.
  • Ability to handle complex data challenges that may require creativity and technical solutions is required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with multiple business partners, in both formal and informal settings is required.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and collaboration with multiple stakeholders in a demanding environment is desired.
  • Understanding of how the banking system functions is desired.
  • Experience in payments processing and handling failed payments is considered a plus.
  • Knowledge of UNICEF organizational structure, finance and administrative policies is desired.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.
  • Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an asset.

General Service (GS) staff are locally recruited staff and therefore, candidates are personally responsible for any travel and accommodation arrangements. UNICEF does not facilitate MFA accreditation for locally recruited staff.
