UNICEF in the State of Palestine works to uphold the rights of children to access essential services and protection, from early childhood through adolescence. Our objective is to ensure that every child in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, irrespective of background or circumstance, has an equal chance to fulfil their potential. Following the escalation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip, UNICEF is responding at scale with Education, WASH, Nutrition, Health, Child Protection and Multi-Purpose Cash, while preparing for return to learning for children across the State of Palestine to respond to the most precent and critical needs of children, while supporting the restoration of essential services.
Being a full member of the Communication Team, Communication Officer (Donor Relations) will support the Communication Section and the Partnerships Section by ensuring consistent, high-quality visibility for UNICEF’s donors and development partners to enhance the organization’s visibility and brand. This role will foster effective communication between the Partnerships and Communications teams, contribute to strategic visibility efforts of UNICEF in the of Palestine, and help strengthen relationships with donors by promoting the values and objectives of UNICEF.
Key functions and accountabilities
1. Liaison and communication:
- Act as the point of contact between the Partnerships and Communications sections, ensuring effective collaboration and communication between the two.
- Facilitate and coordinate the flow of information to enhance visibility of the donors in relevant communication products.
- Liaises with different programme and section colleagues to compile the information needed to assist in developing the donors’ visibility products in line with the applicable guidelines.
2. Donor engagement:
- Contributes to strengthening relationships with UNICEF’s donors and development partners, internal and external counterparts, UN agencies, national partners, national committees, and other stakeholders.
- Responding to ad hoc requests from development partners, ensuring timely, consistent and relevant responses.
3. Content development and visibility:
- Collaborates with other Communications team members to create and curate content that enhances donor visibility, in alignment with organizational standards and donor guidelines, assisting thus in achieving the advocacy and communications’ objective of the country office.
- Developes specific communication plans for top donors, campaigns, content for different types of reports, proposals, and other necessary documentation to highlight UNICEF’s impact and donors’ contributions.
- Plays a significant role in the implementation of communication plans and campaigns, ensuring that all communication materials comply with donors’ s brand guidelines and accurately represent the voices of children, with a focus on inclusivity and gender balance.
- Assists in drafting press releases and editing stories, social media texts and other advocacy and communications products.
4. Tracking and documentation:
- Maintains and organizes the partner relations archive, ensuring guidelines, logos, databases, and other materials are up to date and accessible.
- Tracks and document visibility activities for donors, monitor compliance with donor visibility guidelines, and prepare regular updates on visibility efforts.
- Supports the partnerships team in managing and tracking progress on visibility activities and maintaining organized, up-to-date records.
5. Event, field visits and meeting support:
- Assists in planning, organizing, and executing events, meetings, and field visits to promote donors’ visibility and engagement.
- Coordinates logistical and content needs for events, ensuring they effectively showcase the contributions and engagement of donors.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree on Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field.
Work Experience:
Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience at national and international level in communication, partnership, or donor relations. Experience in humanitarian and complex setting is desired.
Experience in building and strengthening relationships with donors, development partners and other stakeholders.
Experience in designing, planning and organizing events, involving different stakeholder and ensuring donor visibility and recognition.
Experience in designing and leading communication projects and campaigns to archive strategic visibility.
Experience in producing impactful content for different communication channels, including digital and traditional media, that highlights programme achievements and donor contribution.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in English. Knowledge of another official UN language is considered as an asset.
Core Competencies:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Excellent in social media management, content creation, and digital communication tools.
Knowledge of donor visibility guidelines, branding requirements, and experience in ensuring compliance in all visibility activities.
Ability to work collaboratively and professionally within a team and adapt to changing circumstances in a quick-changing environment.
