How can you make a difference?
The consultant will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the online communication strategy with a focus on social media management, campaign implementation and coordination of partners. She/he will support the sourcing, design, production, sharing and archiving of high-quality digital media assets developed as part of UNICEF's Global and CO Communication Strategy, supporting the rollout, development and maintenance of UNICEF website and social media channels in Kyrgyzstan in accordance with an innovative, clear, inclusive, and interactive approach respectful of gender. Working under the direct supervision of the Communication Specialist, the Digital Communication Consultant will oversee the day-to-day updating and monitoring of the UNICEF Kyrgyzstan social media сalendar, ensuring it is aligned with regional and global priorities. More specifically the consultant will be tasked with:
• Drafting, packaging, and uploading content (such as human-interest stories, press releases, photo essays and publications) on digital and social media platforms in a timely manner, in English, Russian and Kyrgyz.
• Monitoring and moderating social media channels flagging risk and opportunities to deepen engagement.
• Pitching ideas for engaging social media content, suggesting promising collaborations and cooperations.
• Producing, editing, and uploading visual assets (images, photos, videos and infographics) for use on digital and social media platforms, including uploading assets to UNICEF’s internal platforms for wider circulation.
• Identifying new digital tools and best practices and how these can be most effectively applied to deepen engagement with supporters.
• Creating youth focused content in Russian and Kyrgyz - incorporating innovative tools such as U-Report and Voices of Youth.
• Keeping track of efforts and activities of other UN agencies, non-profits, and companies.
• Monitoring national and local media channels for developing trendy content
• Generating statistics, metrics, and analytical reports to inform strategic choices of content.
• Monitoring and measure digital key performance indicators as part of the global Key Performance Indicators.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- A first University Degree in communication, marketing, media, law, literature, public relations, development studies, international development, or any other relevant university degree.
- A minimum of 5 of relevant professional experience in social media, digital marketing, event management and editorial production for an NGO, private companies, publishing outlets and/or international organizations.
- Experience in developing and implementing social media or digital marketing strategies required (portfolio) with the focus on gender equality, girl’s empowerment, climate change and green skills.
- Proven knowledge and experience working in Photoshop, InDesign and other ADOBE, designing platforms. Skills in design and usage of SMM designing, montage applications.
- International experience or participation in cross-regional learning practices.
- Proven experience in misinformation management, digital engagement approaches is a must.
- Proven ability to write flawless copy in both Kyrgyz and Russian on tight deadlines.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Knowledge of social media monitoring technology and can use social media measurement and listening tools required (to be assessed but not scored).
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment.
