How can you make a difference? 

The Messenger Job Profile, at the G-1 level, is to be used in Islamabad UNICEF country office and reports to the Senior Administrative Associate at level G-7 and performs the functions of a Messenger.

Key functions, accountabilities, and related duties/tasks includes the following:

  • Receives mail/pouches from couriers, record them on mail register and distribute the mail to relevant sections.
  • Visit Sections on regular interval pick documents/mail from In/Out Tray for distribution within Office or dispatch through courier
  • Filling of papers in the photocopiers, printers, and fax machine. Identify problem(s) if any in photocopiers, telephones, fax, scanner, computer equipment and printers for maintenance. Operates photocopying, scanner, facsimile and binding machine.
  • Provide stationery and consumable items to SMs against approved OASIS/request. Maintain stationery and consumable record and identify demand for procurement to keep sufficient stock in hand for office use/meetings.
  • Refilling of fuel stock for office and EOC Gen Sets. Support in maintenance of office/equipment and transportation of Guards’ Cabins at International SMs’ homes.
  • Any other duty assigned by Supervisor.

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: Secondary education.
  • Work Experience: At least one year of work experience as a messenger is required.
  • Skill: Ability to sort out and organize large quantities of material for dispatch.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English and knowledge of a local language of the duty station is required

Desirables:

  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance.  Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF. Appointments may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
