How can you make a difference? 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

• An advanced university degree (master’s or higher) in education, psychology, sociology, or other social science field is required
• At least 5 years of experience in development, humanitarian, or resilience program with an NGO or UN agency, complemented by minimum 1 year of work experience with a significant involvement in monitoring and evaluation
•  
  Demonstrated experience providing inputs to project planning, implementation and reporting, with preference for this experience in education projects
•  
  Demonstrated capacity to collect data and use it in analysis, reporting, and to inform project design
• Capacity to develop and maintain positive partnerships with other organizations, agencies, and government counterparts
• Commitment to using a teamwork approach, including ability to keep collaboration and communication
•  
  Good ability to use Microsoft Excel and other office-based software, with experience using online data collection forms (Kobo, Google) considered a significant benefit
•  
  Ability and willingness to engage in field missions
•  
  Fluency in Somali and very good ability in English language, both speaking and writing
•  
  Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.

Medical Insurance:

Consultants are fully responsible for arranging, at their own expense, life, health, and other forms of insurance covering the period of their services as they consider appropriate. They are required to certify that they are covered by medical/health insurance. Consultants who are required to travel beyond commuting distance to duty stations(s) with hardship ratings other than "A" or "H" shall also certify that their medical/health insurance covers medical evacuations (Please note that Somalia is rated as an ‘E’ duty station).  Consultants who need to purchase medical insurance may do so by identifying a commercial insurer on the market. UNICEF however provides coverage for consultants under the Malicious Acts Insurance Policy (MAIP) for the duration of the contract in cases of service-incurred injuries, illness or death. 

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and advance to the next stage of the selection process. 

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws. 

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
