For every child, protection

UNICEF, along with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and WHO, is supporting Lebanon’s introduction of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in 2026 as part of the national immunization strategy to prevent cervical cancer, one of the most common cancers among women globally. Following a recommendation by the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG), a single-dose HPV vaccine will be offered to 10-year-old girls, with an initial catch-up campaign for older cohorts. While technical and financial preparations are in place, ensuring community acceptance, demand, and trust is critical. To address this, UNICEF and partners are prioritizing Social and Behavior Change–Community Engagement (SBC-CE) activities targeting parents, caregivers, frontline workers, and community leaders as part of the Gavi-supported HPV vaccine introduction.
